Recently videos have trended on social media demonstrating how to break into Kia models from 2011-2021 and Hyundai models from 2015-2021, creating a rise in auto thefts across the country. Kia and Hyundai are aware of this unfortunate situation and declared their willingness to partner with certain local police departments to provide customers with a steering wheel lock at no charge. Both manufacturers have combatted the issue with engine immobilizers for model years 2022 and newer.
Theft Prevention:
The installation of kill switches that render the vehicle inoperable without a separate key, car alarms with motion detection, and vehicle tracking systems may all help mitigate theft opportunities. To learn more about how you can protect your vehicle against theft, we encourage you to reach out to your manufacturer or local police departments.
Manufacturers request that you have your vehicle identification number (VIN) readily available, which can be found on your vehicle’s registration.
