Every employer is responsible for providing a workplace that is free from recognized hazards. However, active shooter events create unique challenges for employers. In most cases, an active shooter’s movements and selection of victims does not follow a pattern or method. Because of this, prudent employers train employees to be prepared to deal with an active shooter situation before law enforcement personnel arrive on the scene.
