An active shooter is an individual who is engaged in killing, or attempting to kill, people in a confined and populated area. Active shooter incidents evolve quickly. In many cases, there is no pattern or method to the selection of victims by an active shooter, and these situations are by their very nature unpredictable.
Because active shooter situations are often over before law enforcement arrives on the scene, organizations and individuals must be prepared before an event occurs to ensure their safety and the safety of their employees.
